One of the Si Da Ming Cong (四大名枞) — the Four Great Famous Cultivars of Wuyi rock tea, alongside Da Hong Pao, Bai Ji Guan, and Shui Jin Gui. Tie Luo Han (铁罗汉, “Iron Arhat”) is the oldest of the four by name, with a recorded history reaching back to the Song dynasty.

This release is part of Wuyi Star’s Yan Xiang (岩香) series. The producer’s tasting notes describe the fragrance as clear, delicate, subtle, and lingering; the taste sweet, mellow, rich, and full-bodied.

The product carries a Geographical Indication seal (地理标志) — the People’s Republic of China’s protected designation for genuine Wuyi rock tea — alongside its Ming Cong classification.

Brewing. Gaiwan, 100°C. 8.35g sachet to 110ml water. First steep 15 seconds; subsequent steeps 10 seconds.

Format. A presentation box of twelve 8.35g sachets, each portioned for a single gaiwan session.

After it arrives

Store sealed tins away from direct sunlight and strong odours. Once opened, keep them sealed between sessions. Compressed cake is best kept loosely wrapped in a clean, ventilated spot.

How It's Brewed

Gaiwan, near-boiling water, short steeps repeated across a session — the notes on this tea page assume that approach. A larger pot works too; adjust the leaf ratio and extend the steep time.
